Three ways to get trades into Axel
Auto-Sync, CSV import, or manual entry — which one is right for you, and how Axel shows which one an account uses.
Every trade in your journal arrives through one of three doors:
The three methods compared
| Method | Effort | Best for | Feed dot |
|---|---|---|---|
| MT5 Auto-Sync | 15-minute setup, once — then zero | Anyone trading on MetaTrader 5. Trades arrive on their own, to the second. | 🟢 green (glowing) |
| CSV import | ~1 minute per import | Catching up history in bulk, or brokers without MT5. | 🟡 yellow |
| Manual entry | ~30 seconds per trade | Occasional trades, corrections, non-MT5 platforms. | 🔴 red |
The colored dot appears next to each account name in the sidebar switcher, so you always know how an account is fed.
Our recommendation
If you trade on MT5, set up Auto-Sync. A journal only works if it is complete, and automation is the only method that never forgets a trade — even the ones you would rather not remember. Trades placed from your phone are captured too, as long as your MT5 terminal is running on your computer.
The three methods mix freely on the same account: you can Auto-Sync daily and still add a manual trade or import an old CSV. Duplicates from CSV imports are detected and skipped automatically.
