TP / BE / SL classification — how Axel labels your trades

The automatic outcome engine: reference amounts, thresholds, the five labels, and how to tune them.

Written by the Axel Tracker team · Updated August 14, 2026

Most journals make you label every trade by hand. Axel labels them for you, using rules you control.

The five labels

LabelMeaning
TPThe trade reached (or came close to) a full take-profit.
BEBreak-even — the P&L is negligible either way.
SLThe trade took (or came close to) a full stop-loss.
Gain+Positive, but not a full TP (partial win, early close).
Loss−Negative, but not a full SL (partial loss, early cut).
The TP / BE / SL banner on the Dashboard

On the Dashboard, the banner shows each label with the rule that produced it — e.g. TP ≥ +$40.00 for lot 0.05.

How the engine decides

Per account, you define two reference ratios — what a full TP and a full SL represent, per unit of lot size — and three thresholds:

  • TP ratio / SL ratio — e.g. with a TP ratio of 1000, a 0.05 lot trade has a full-TP reference of $50; with an SL ratio of 500, a full SL is $25.
  • TP threshold (default 80%) — a trade whose gain reaches 80% of the full-TP reference is labeled TP.
  • SL threshold (default 80%) — same on the loss side, for SL.
  • BE threshold (default 15%) — anything within ±15% of the reference around zero is BE.

Whatever falls between BE and a full TP/SL becomes Gain+ or Loss−.

Tuning it to your risk profile

The classification bubble under the trades table

The classification bubble under the Trades table — your current split, and the shortcut to the thresholds.

  1. Open the profile menu → Settings → Accounts (or click “Edit” on the classification bubble under the Trades table).
  2. Adjust the ratios so the example amounts shown match what a full TP and SL really are for you.
  3. The live preview reclassifies your recent trades as you type — stop when the labels look right.
You can always override a single trade: set its Outcome manually in the trade form. Automatic classification only applies when the field is left on Automatic.
